What are the benefits of chicken meat for children?

Chicken meat is of great benefit to children’s bodies because:

  • Is an important source of protein and amino acids;
  • It is a dietary product with a small percentage of fat;
  • Contains many micro- and macroelements, including cobalt, phosphorus, zinc, iron;
  • It is a source of B vitamins (B2, B6, B9, B12).

In addition, chicken meat is digested and absorbed more easily than beef and pork, which means it is introduced into the child’s diet earlier.

Attention! It is not recommended to buy chicken in supermarkets for a child, since in such meat you can find not only vitamins, but also substances harmful to the child’s body (for example, hormones and antibiotics).

At what age should chicken be introduced to babies?

Chicken meat is not considered the first meat product introduced into a baby’s diet. Turkey and rabbit are usually offered first - these types are less allergenic than chicken. Meat is introduced into the menu from 8 months, but chicken can be offered from 9 months in the form of puree.

Chicken meat is introduced in the same way. like other complementary foods - starting with 1/2 teaspoon in the first half of the day, and during the day the baby’s reaction is observed. To prepare chicken puree, boil it and then grind it in a blender, adding a little breast milk or mixture - this way the puree will not be dry.

If well tolerated, the amount is gradually increased, bringing it to the age norm. Within a month, your baby can be offered chicken soufflé or pudding, and after a year - chicken broths and soups.

Starting from the age of 1.5 years, the first cutlets, zrazy and meatballs made from chicken meat are already introduced into the diet. Well, what else can you cook from chicken for a child?

Boiled chicken stew (from 2 years old)

Ingredients

  • 150 g chicken meat
  • 80-90 g rice
  • 20 g butter
  • 10 g onion
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 4 tablespoons broth
  • 10 g tomato paste
  • salt to taste

Cooking steps

    Melt the butter and fry finely chopped onion in it. Then add dry rice and fry until yellowish. Pour broth (any kind) or water over the rice and let it boil, stirring constantly.

    When the cereal becomes soft enough, add tomato puree, chopped boiled chicken, salt and mix. Keep covered over low heat for 5-10 minutes.

    Serve with a salad of fresh vegetables, finely chopped or grated.


Meat is introduced into children's diets before they are one year old. For starters, experts recommend chicken or turkey, and this recipe is also supplemented with vegetables. You can combine regular chicken puree with boiled potatoes or cauliflower.

Ingredients

  • 100 g chicken fillet
  • 1/2 onion
  • 20 g butter
  • 1 carrot
  • 280 g sweet potato
  • 300 ml chicken or vegetable broth

Cooking steps

    Rinse the chicken fillet under running water and dry. Cut the peeled sweet potato and fillet into pieces.

    Finely chop the onion, peel the carrots and cut into slices.

    Heat the oil in a saucepan and simmer the onion until soft. Add chicken breast and simmer for another 3-4 minutes. Add the vegetables, pour in the broth, bring to a boil and cook over low heat, covered, for half an hour until the chicken is cooked and the vegetables are soft.

    Grind the finished products in a blender.

  • 170 g chicken fillet, chopped
  • 1 yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • vegetable oil

Cooking steps

    Combine chicken, yolk, juice, garlic and basil in a food processor or mixer. Roll the minced meat into small balls and roll each one in sesame seeds.

    Steam the chicken balls or bake them in the oven.


Chicken with asparagus (from 2 years old)

Preparation

1. Cut the chilled but not frozen meat into long, narrow strips about a centimeter thick.

2. Place the fillet on a cutting board, cover it with a special film or a clean bag and beat it. This is done so that the chicken is more tender and easier to soak into the other components of the dish.

3. Sprinkle the resulting roll base with salt and transfer it to a plate.

4. Place raw eggs in a bowl and beat with a fork.

5. Drain the syrup from the jar of pineapples, and dry the fruit rings themselves using napkins. Cut the rings into two halves.

6. Wrap the pineapple halves into fillet strips and secure the structure with a toothpick to be sure.

7. Dip the chicken rolls into beaten eggs, then dip them into crumbled breadcrumbs and fry in a hot frying pan with some butter.

You can bake the product in the oven or cook it using a slow cooker - this method will not affect the characteristics of the dish in any way.

1. Cut the fillet into small square pieces.

2. Beat cream, semolina and eggs with a mixer or blender.

3. Wash the greens under running water and chop them. Cut the pepper into strips and grate the cheese on a fine or coarse grater.

4. Pour the chicken pieces with the egg-cream mixture, add herbs and pepper, and salt the entire composition. Mix all the ingredients of our pie thoroughly.

I probably spent an hour thinking about what I could make so healthy and tasty for the child while I was defrosting the chicken fillet in warm water. I wandered around the Internet, most often I came across chicken Kiev cutlet recipes, but it’s fried, I don’t want to give that to my child. The introduction of chicken into the diet of children begins at 8 months in the form of meat puree after becoming familiar with less allergenic types of meat (rabbit, turkey). The lean part of the bird is boiled until tender, and then chopped in a blender.

In order for the puree to acquire a delicate consistency and be more pleasing to the baby, it is diluted with breast milk or a small amount of formula.

The first portion of this puree should be half a teaspoon. With normal tolerance, the amount gradually increases.

A month after becoming familiar with boiled chicken, you can start giving your child chicken broth, adding 30-50 ml of it to vegetable purees or vegetable and cereal soups. For the first time, only 1-2 spoons of broth are added to a vegetable dish, checking the reaction of the baby’s body. If signs of allergies and other problems do not appear, the amount of broth is slowly increased.

For a 1-year-old child, it is acceptable to cook chicken soup in broth. Also, children over one year old are given dishes made from minced chicken (prepared at home), which are boiled or baked in the oven. Fried chicken should not be served to children under 3 years of age.


It is recommended to give only boiled, baked or steamed chicken to children under 3 years of age.

How to make chicken soufflé

The soufflé prepared according to this recipe is recommended for children over 1 year of age.

Kids like this chicken dish for its delicate texture and pleasant taste.

To prepare it, take:

  • 100 g boiled chicken fillet
  • 1 chicken egg
  • 1 tbsp. spoon of rice
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of milk
  • 1 teaspoon butter

First, the fillet, cooked until cooked, is cut into pieces and blended in a blender until smooth. Rice is boiled with the addition of milk to form a viscous porridge. It is added to the chicken puree and again crushed with a blender.

The yolk is first added to the mixture, and then the melted butter. Separately, beat the protein until a thick foam is obtained, after which it is carefully mixed with the chicken mass and placed in a mold. The soufflé is steamed for about 20 minutes, and after cooling, removed from the mold. This dish is served either on its own or with various side dishes, for example, buckwheat porridge.


Other chicken recipes for children

Meatballs (from 1 year)

The main ingredient of this dish is minced chicken, which is recommended to be made from fresh meat yourself. For 400 g of minced meat, take 1 egg and 50 g of bread, which should be soaked in a small amount of milk and then squeezed. After mixing the ingredients, form balls the size of a walnut. They should be boiled in boiling water or steamed for 10-15 minutes.


Soup with pumpkin and chicken (from 1 year)

Boil 100 g of chicken fillet until tender, let it cool, and then finely chop. Peel and cut 150 g of pumpkin into pieces, boil until soft.

Peel and grate a small carrot, add half an onion, peeled and cut into pieces. Stew onions and carrots in 1 teaspoon of butter with the addition of 5 tbsp. spoons of broth in which the chicken was cooked. Cook the vegetables over medium heat until the liquid has evaporated.

Place carrots, onions and pumpkin in a blender, add 5 tbsp. spoons of broth, then puree. Next, dilute it with broth to the desired thickness, and before serving, add chopped chicken and herbs to a bowl of pumpkin soup.


Steam cutlets (from 1 year)

For such a dish, for every 100 g of chicken meat, take 20 g of white bread, as well as 25 ml of milk. The meat can be from the breast or legs, but must be without skin and tendons. After grinding it into minced meat, add the bread soaked in milk, and then mix everything well. After forming the cutlets, steam them for 15-20 minutes.


Chicken sausages (from 1 year)

To make homemade sausages from chicken fillet, cut the meat into pieces and pass through a meat grinder. Add an egg or a little milk to the resulting minced meat, add salt and mix thoroughly. You can also add boiled vegetables or pieces of cheese to the minced meat. Wrap the minced chicken in an ovenproof bag or pieces of foil cut into rectangles. Twist the ends of the “sausages” and then boil or bake this semi-finished product until cooked.


Pilaf in a slow cooker (from 3 years old)

Peel 1 small onion and 1 medium carrot. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrots. Set the multicooker to “stew” or “fry” mode. After heating some vegetable oil, add onions and carrots to it. While the vegetables are roasting, cut 300 g of fresh chicken into small pieces. Place the chicken in the slow cooker, add salt and a tablespoon of tomato sauce.

Fry the meat and vegetables for about 10 minutes. Rinse 300 g of long grain rice and add it to the slow cooker with the chicken. Pour in enough water to cover all the ingredients by about 2 cm. After closing the multicooker lid, cook the dish for about 20-30 minutes until the rice is cooked.


Goulash (from 3 years old)

Take 200 g of chicken without skin and tendons, wash and cut into cubes. Heat a little vegetable oil or butter in a frying pan, and then fry the chicken in it until golden brown. Salt the meat, add chopped onion, finely grated carrots and a teaspoon of flour, fry everything together a little (5-7 minutes). Place the dish in a saucepan, pour broth over the meat and add 10 g of tomato paste and 20 g of sour cream. Close the lid and simmer over low heat for about 20-30 minutes.
