So, porridge for breakfast!
I cook all cereals (except semolina) in the microwave. Why is it convenient:
1) It takes no more than 3 minutes to prepare.
2) Does not require “monitoring” or any of your participation at all: the milk does not run away, and the cereal does not burn.
3) You can leave breakfast to prepare yourself, and at this time run to the shower, do makeup, or something that usually takes 10-20 minutes of your precious time in the morning.

My favorite porridges are barley, millet and corn.

You can, of course, take oatmeal, buckwheat, and wheat. You can cook it with either water or milk - at your discretion. My approximate proportions of cereal/milk are 1/2. You can change them depending on what kind of porridge you want - more liquid, thicker or crumbly. I like moderately thick, viscous porridges (this is especially true for rice; believe me, I can’t stand crumbly rice.
So, the main cooking process comes down to a couple of simple steps: take the cereal, rinse it, put it in a “microwave bowl”, fill it with milk/water, put it in the microwave, select the time and... that’s it! Let's go shower/do exercises/hair/get the kids ready for school! Small grains (egg, wheat, oatmeal, corn) take 10-12 minutes in my microwave, larger grains (buckwheat, rice, millet) take about 18-20. For the first time, I advise you to get your bearings on your unit, and then you yourself will understand how much your assistant needs to prepare you a healthy breakfast. There is no need to stir anything, the milk will not boil away, and the porridge will not stick. Everything will work out without you!

You can salt/sweeten the porridge from the very beginning, or after cooking.
I usually add salt at the beginning, and when I take the porridge out of the microwave, I add sweetness to taste, usually honey. But according to my observations, the most amazing porridges are obtained with such additives as:
-boiled condensed milk (stir in half a can for two servings after cooking - with oatmeal it’s just a fairy tale, I’m ready to eat it all on my own!)
-chocolate (break a 100-gram bar, throw it into the cereal before cooking, pour milk all together and send it to cook, stir at the very end - the chocolate will not burn, but will melt normally, mix with the porridge, which will also cook evenly, and you will only have stir again for homogeneity)
- pumpkin (this is for millet and corn: cut the pumpkin into pieces and, again, add it together with the cereal and pour it in - everything will also cook evenly, the pumpkin will be soft, almost pureed, and if you then add honey, it’s delicious. I cut the pumpkin in the evening, I leave it in the refrigerator, and in the morning I just throw it all together into a cup.

For me, the breakfast problem is solved. In fact, this has never been a problem for me; I was taught to eat breakfast. I just think that such porridge will be healthier than packaged “zaparushki”. And for those who still believe that “microwaves” remain in food, I assure you that this is all far-fetched.   3. Stir in 5-8 tablespoons of flakes, add a little salt, stir again and return to the microwave for about 1.5 minutes.
  4. Reduce the microwave power by 2 times, cover the container with a lid and leave for another 3 minutes.

You can cook rice and millet in a microwave oven. How to cook porridge in the microwave:

  1. Pour 1 glass of cereal with 0.5 liters of cold water and set at maximum power (usually 800 W) for 4-5 minutes. As a rule, this is enough to boil.
  2. Drain off excess water and add milk in a ratio of 1:2, salt and sugar. At the same stage you can add butter. Stir.
  3. Reduce the power to 300-400 W and place in the microwave to finish cooking for another 10 minutes. If possible, stir 1-2 times during cooking, but this is not necessary.

Little trick: The cereal can be soaked the night before to reduce the cooking time by almost 2 times.

Cook buckwheat in the microwave in the same way. But the first stage lasts up to 15 minutes, and there is no need to drain the water.

  1. Take a container with a volume of 700-1000 ml and pour 400 g of milk into it. Bring them to a boil. It will take you approximately 4 minutes.
  2. Remove the container and while the milk is still boiling, add 8 tablespoons of cereal and stir quickly. It is very convenient to use a whisk or fork. When the porridge thickens enough, add salt and sweeten it.
  3. Reduce microwave power to 500 W and microwave for another 3 minutes.
  4. Stir once a minute.

You can prepare any other porridges, such as corn, pearl barley, barley, peas. It is better to pre-soak almost all cereals in water for at least 1-2 hours. In addition, it is more convenient to cook in water and only then add milk. Firstly, the milk instantly boils away and forms foam. We take wheat cereal and water in equal proportions.
